My tendency is to delete both for better airflow to the intercoolers, but I do like the extra light they provide in the fog/snow. Major dilemma!

View Full Version : Poll: Replace cracked driving light on my B5 S4, or delete both for better IC cooling? When evaluating the effectiveness of any intercooler or intercooler "upgrades", you must take into account multiple consecutive boosted runs. I have data logged and helped data log multiple passes on intercooled and non-intercooled cars. What i have found is that IAT's WILL go up with each consecutive boosted pass. This indicates you need to keep your intercooler operating at close to peak effiency for not one, or two passes, but 5 or 6. Keeping obstructions away from the front of the intercooler, or intercoolers (or even getting an intercooler if you don't have one, lol) will help. Also, Letting your car sit in the afternoon sun or at a stoplight to "heat soak" the intercoolers is nothing like throwing boosted air through it. Of course you can't believe everything on the internet, so take my advice with a grain of salt, as you should that "scientific test". Sorry, i am now off my soap box ;) GoCougarsWSU 02-02-2006, 10:07 AM driving the passes in bliding snow. Sure looks good! |
