If you live in Duvall cut down your trees. s4jones 02-01-2006, 05:00 PM Good to be unharmed for sure. A couple of years ago, a neighbor lost two on the same day. We got hit with one, but another neighbor got more damage (one day after Escrow closed on his house...ouch). Our gardner was working down at the bottom of the backyard clearing some built up debris when the wind really picked up, I ran down to get him out from under the firs. We were talking about the wind and just getting through the side gate when WHAM KABAM and WHAM KABAM. The 2 trees fell. We actually turned to watch the second one land in our yard as we were not sure what the sound was from at first. One of them landed on our gazebo-like thing which is now a gardening shed (a fortuitous opportunity for a replacement) -- which is exactly where the gardner had been working. It was incredibly scary. Just before the trees dropped we were dumb struck by the way our big ash trees in front were flailing almost like some kind of demon-possessed botanical monster. Then CRASH CRASH. Some pictures: View looking at the landing zone and the split gazebo. The gardner was actually working behing the backstop thing. View looking back to from whence the tree came. jsamans 02-01-2006, 05:06 PM It was easily a 100 footer: Snapped it right at the base: GoCougarsWSU 02-02-2006, 02:37 PM |
