I am approaching 80k on the A6 and looking for an alternative to the dealer which I can never leave for under $300.

For all after-market mods, try Achtuning...also in Redmond, behind Redmond Werkshop.

Redmond Werkshop is not "cheap", but much less than the dealers. Both Redmond Werkshop and Achtuning do very good work.
