Land Rovers are expensive to maintain, may someone pity you.

My best friend has one...

I am sure he would sell it cheap...

Driver side window doesn't work
The power seat buttons are falling out of the center console.
neither of the sunroofs works correctly.
he has a check engine light that he hasn't been able to get rid of since a month after he bought it (4.75 years ago)
96 w/ 190K on it.

Oh and it has a brand new rear bumper that his insurance just pay for (he was rear ended in the middle of the night and they drove off) It cost $1400 to get the repairs done. The damn car only has a replacement value of like $3500 at the most.

Everytime I hear of problems with Audi's I just look at that beast of his which has cost him almost $2k a year in maintenance and repairs since he got it and has never been that nice, and I go...boy I really don't have it that bad.

I have only takend my Disco to LR PDX, but that's because it's all been warranty work.

Those are the only two local indie mechanics I know of in the area.

What are you looking at? Aren't you in Bellevue?

I'm in Seattle, but i'm looking to get a RR Classic, and the seller's in Portland so I need to get it inspected there.

You think it'd be best to have the buyer's inspection done at one of the indies or the dealership?

it for a week or two anyway. Out of those two though, I'm not sure I'd have a preference.

FWIW: Just now, when I was looking for Shipman's web site, I found a critizising e-mail about his service. Not that any other place wouldn't have a complaint, but FYI. My only experience with him was I called him to take a look at something, but he said he wouldn't work with aftermarket warranties.

I called Boulevard once too about a 60k service and their list of "to-do" items was far short of what needed to be done. That irked me a little.

I'd lean towards Boulevard, depending on the pricing and availability you get.

Is this your first Rover? Got a link to what you're looking at?<ul><li><a href="http://forums.vmag.com/suvdisco0199/messages/515.html">http://forums.vmag.com/suvdisco0199/messages/515.html</a</li></ul>

and they told me they have a "pre-buyers inspection" which is only 30 minutes (which is really short) and $75. I asked them what they do, and the girls response was "I have no idea".... &lt;PAUSE&gt;.... sounds very professional! haha. Do you have a good service advisor to call at PDX LR?

Whereas Seattle LR here has a 2 hour inspection which is $200. Strange. I'll give Shipman a call and see what they have.

I had a 97 Disco 1 (see above for picture) which shares the same engine and a lot of parts as the 95 RR LWB i'm looking at. So i'm pretty familiar with the truck already.

Here's a link to some info on the 95RR Classic<ul><li><a href="http://www.rangerovers.net/modelspecs/1995.html">http://www.rangerovers.net/modelspecs/1995.html</a></li></ul>

called me with info, kept me up to date usually.

My last episode with LRPDX they said my MAF went bad because my airbox was cracked. They gave me a bunch of BS and wanted $1200 to fix it. I said no way and replaced the MAF myself in 5 minutes for a total cost of about $140 (I had to buy a $10 set of special hex bits).

I never did find the crack in my airbox.

Good luck on the Classic - I've always been a big fan of that body style.
