Got back from a nice 1hr+ drive today at mostly 60 plus mph, and when I got home, I wanted to take a picture before the sun went down, so in my haste I forgot to let the engine run for a few minutes to cool down like the manual says. Just curious, do most turbo owners let the engine idle for awhile after driving and if so, after what length of trip?
Just have to say I'm not sure their is such a thing as a curve in the road anymore the way this baby handles!
Also, any thoughts on hig-pressure car washes just to get bugs and surface dirt off?
It is always a good idea to let the turbo spin down. All of the guys I know in my various automotive circles either sit and let the car idle, or have invested in a turbo timer (available from HKS or Greddy I think).
I plan to get one as soon as I get my 1.8TQ.

After a similar drive a few days ago, I took a look at my engine in the dark and the turbo was glowing red! This is enough reason for me to let it sit and run. I did for about 2 minutes and when I shut it off, it wasn't glowing anymore. So I think it's a good idea, couldn't hurt could it?
As far as the car wash goes, stay away from em! See my post below about the gouged rim! It seemed to do a fair job cleaning, but it's not worth the risk to your rims! Go to one of those do-it-yourself ones to be safe...and try not to aim the high pressure directly at the car...always at an angle so there's less pressure on the paint..
Enjoy your car.......and yes, there are no more curves!!
-Ash Silver 98.5 1.8TQMS
