View Full Version : Best wireless service for (western) WA? AT&T?? mm 10-21-2002, 08:22 AM UW 10-21-2002, 09:34 AM I've been a Sprint user for a long time because of the nation-wide roaming ability. However, coverage locally is somewhat spotty compared to the others. I'd go with ATTWS. Not the cheapest for sure, though. Good luck! Steveo369 10-21-2002, 12:15 PM Seriously, I've had roommates/friends with each and every service available here. Most are now on Verizon. Verizon has great coverage in many markets, and typically has very low priced plans. As I've mentioned before, they tend to not have the "cool" phones, and they are still using a CDMA network (older technology) AT&T also has great coverage, and perhaps better coverage nationwide, but their plans are generally higher priced. They have pretty good phones and are making more of a concerted effort to upgrade their networks (GSM, I think) T-Mobile - Used to be Voicestream. My roommate had Voicestream and it sucked. Tons of dropped calls, spotty coverage. I have heard that it's gotten better over the last couple years, and don't know much about their price plan Cingular - cool phones, reasonably priced plans. similar to T-Mobile, spottier coverage Sprint - PCS is a great system, but it's not really "nationwide" unless you're in major metropolitan areas. Outside major cities/corridors, coverage is really bad. Sprint also tends to have prices similar to AT&T The last 3 (T-Mobile, Cingular and Sprint) tend to have good coverage in metropolitan areas, and much worse coverage in rural areas. AT&T/Verizon tend to be a bit better in the rural areas (largely due to the "older technology" stations/network that was setup and is still in service. All that is just my $0.02, everybody has tons of opinions and may have more experience than I do... Even those short bus kids. :-) bradvan 10-22-2002, 06:35 AM garyna 10-22-2002, 11:35 AM looey 10-22-2002, 04:23 PM Like the t68i? Are you stuck? At least with other phones that still support tdma, you can still remain on a network. In the above situation, are you just SOL? ccA4SEA 10-22-2002, 05:11 PM ATTWS only has one phone like that now, the Siemens S46. Check the link for rate plan pricing.

http://www.attws.com/mobileinternet/multiband_local.jhtml</a

bradvan 10-23-2002, 07:18 AM I live in the woodinville area and don't seem to have any problems using my phone anywhere in the eastside area I went to hawaii last month and it worked great there as well basically it works almost everywhere I go......and you can get a digital camera that hooks on to the phone as well euro_vw 10-25-2002, 06:55 PM If I change it, it'll be Nextel. Sprint is nice to me, my mom and brother had Voicestream, took us 6 months to get out of their services. Voicestream sucks. dejavu 11-01-2002, 08:58 PM |
