Anybody with a B7 stick (or frankly any manual tranny) notice their shifter sticking? I don't recall it doing this last year when it got this cold. Shifter doesn't rebound to the centre at all. I know things don't like to move but usually that happens when it's -30 :)

I also have a 6spd and it's been sticking in the cold since day 1. It's goes away after 5-10mins but if it's really cold, which it will be by the end of the week, you'll grind gears even when the clutch is fully depressed.
Must be the type of tranny fluid or something.

His whole dash is covered in sticky things.
Used to happen on my MK3 jetta diesel at around -15 if i left it sitting at the go station or overnight, but transmission fluid was replaced with thicker-than-recommended so it shifted more fluidly during summer months.
Self-inflicted.

it pulls and pushes into place without any synchronization issues. It is a little slow for 10 minutes, but I don't have to strong-arm it.
However my B6 A4 had no problems in the winter. There is definitely a difference between the two cars in summer vs winter. So I guess that they are all different and I am absolutely no help!

not only does the gear oil in the tranny get very thick, but the grease on the shifter linkage components gets very hard.

...not that I could remember.
Cold will do this...combined with European engineering where they think sky is falling or you shouldn't be driving when the temp drops to -5C.
Shift more often while standing still or on the move...that should get things moving.

you drive off in this cold weather.
Also, in extreme cold, keep your speed down so that your car's liquids don't freeze.
I had a situation once when my A8 overheated because the radiator was freezing and reducing cooling. I stopped for 5 minutes, with the engine running, and then continued at a reduced speed. It was fine after that.
