One of the worst was an outage that was more than 24 hours when the fail over equipment that DH was using wasn't working and took them forever to get it fixed. This occurred right before Nuit Blanche a few years ago. So obviously nobody was able to organize anything or get in touch with people on what they were planning to do for Nuit Blanche. At other times, the site would just go down for no apparent reason - anywhere for a few minutes to a few hours. Or the site was awfully slow, probably due to some rogue process running away and DH not monitoring their servers properly for this type of stuff. One thing DH was good at was updating their status on the web. 1and1 doesn't really do this. Calling either one of them for support is useless, you get the standard response "we are aware of the problem, no ETA on the resolution". Of course, when you pay $10/month, what else should I be expecting LOL. If you're running a site that isn't going to get a lot of traffic, maybe DH will be fine. Maybe their uptime reliability has improved, as some "never" encountered any issues partly because of the traffic that they have is a fraction of what our photog site gets.
