View Full Version : If a package is shipped from a retail vendor in the US as a warranty replacement, do I still get... Hobag 03-03-2008, 09:26 AM taxed for it's posted value? TIA GregC6A6 03-03-2008, 10:53 AM Hobag 03-03-2008, 11:09 AM me pay the full 13% tax? GregC6A6 03-03-2008, 11:33 AM to relcaim back the tax if indeed it is warranty. I just generally declare a super low value (ideally under $20) to avoid the taxes. JonRS4 03-03-2008, 05:26 PM shock last year but since I wanted no downtime, I paid first and sent back the leaking one later. I had them put that in very careful detail on the invoice including the words "warranty replacement" but still I had to pay at the border. The customs dude gave me a form to get PST and GST back. It was super fast and all I did was inlcude the same info. Stupid extra effort but I got it back in the end. Tim amiro 03-03-2008, 05:28 PM in case it gets damaged or lost in transit. Hobag 03-03-2008, 06:31 PM then by all means state the full value of the item. But if they will tax you, even if it's a warranty replacement, then it might be worth it to run the risk of damage or loss and not declare fully. |
