The engine swap for this car is happening in two steps. Step one is to install the wrecker engine I picked up, that apparently "smokes a bit". The smokey engine will allow me to get all the wiring sorted out while MasterB and I work out the shipping of his spare 7a from the east coast to my place on the west coast.

Smokey installed...some wiring/hosing is for sure temporary.

Car performed brilliantly. Finally has enough power to pull out of a slide. The 7a/LWFW combo make for a totally predictable package.

It would appear, however, that I'm due for a timing belt change on the car. That black stuff on the front of the valve cover is timing belt. heh heh...oops.

Probably the best part of the timing belt photo is the fact that I noticed it before the rally testing began. I have a spare (3rd) engine in the garage, so I decided to risk it. Pricey mistake if I had made the wrong choice though.
