The ever recuring winter tire discussions is yet upon us once again this year and I can vouch of having been part of it.

So I woke up this morning pondering on all our friends affected by the rising of the Canadian currency against the US and could not help but feel some remorse.

This quickly vanished when I realised I needed to buy new wheels and tires for my B7. I headed over to Tirerack and came up with a price of $990 for 4 wheels and tires shipped.

Either out of solidarity or pure cheapness, I checked out the Canadian competition (1010Tires and Tiretrends) but without doing an indeapth comparasion I have a hard time justifying paying close to double to support a Canadian outlet - Even if I have to pay the surprize/unknown UPS clearing fees.

For the record and staying on subject, I'm considering the following setup:
$356 4 x 16x7 MSW Type 11
$460 4 x 215/55QR16 XL Michelin X-Ice
$175 Shipping

Yeah today started with the dollar at par with the US. It's under the dollar mark now but it's tough not to look at buying things from the US.

A friend just picked up a B7 A4 and I helped purchased 16" alloy wheels and winter tires for under $1,100. all in to my door from Tire Trends. Check out Sport Edition wheels ...
