New --- the updated Ronal USA website is up and going exceptionally well. It features the Audi models and VW cars with up to 13 different wheel styles. The new JETTA was photographed today. Gary. www.ronalusa.com

I also wanted to mention that the quality of pictures could be a little better (the cut-out around the car doesn't look professional).
Do you have any wheels in the works that resemble the 17" x 8" BMW wheels from the 328i sport package?
I just love the looks of those 7-spoke wheels!

I'm a Web Developer (portfolio includes Nike, Wells Fargo, BofA, Hewlett-Packard, ect) and as a consumer I expect larger companies to have a Web presence that wasn't done by the first person who knows a little HTML. I hate to critique the site but it's 'one' of the reasons I didn't buy rims from your company. And what's up with the aliased fonts in the graphics? You could have used HTML ASCII text and reduced d/l time. I suggest you have a Web Agency who understands branding and strategy develop your Site. Leave it to the pros.
-Dantley

This representation makes the products appear cheap. I know that sex sells but I think it has it's proper place in ads such as this. The site seems to remind me of sexual solicitation on the net rather than putting nice wheels on my car. IMHO.

You lost me when you asked for registration just see some friggin pictures!

Yeah, whatever.
Only a pretentious oaf would predicate a wheel purchasing decision on factors such as aliased fonts in the graphics on the web page.
Truth is, too much money is spent on useless advertising and marketing. For instance, does a company like Coca-Cola really need to advertise their product? I would still drink Coke over Pepsi even if I never did see another Coke ad.
Ronal is a fine product which speaks for itself. IMHO, keep advertising and overhead costs down and offer a quality product at a lower price. This benefits both the consumer and seller.
Go hand out your business cards to someone who cares.

Sorry, but the site is just bad. I too am a web developer, but you don't need to be to understand that the site has too many graphics, they're too big, and to top it off, they're ugly. Hope you didn't pay too much.
You know, your website is potentially a gold mine for you if you develop it wisely. Don't blow it. Go back and try again. Let me know if you need help.
richardb
96 QM

Another one trying to make money.
At least you did not profess to decline purchasing from Ronal based on some enigmatic observation about Ronal's web page.
If you do not like the web page, send Gary an email rather than bashing the page and touting your "web" abilities on this forum.

The car index page is labeled, http://www.ronalusa.com/aliens.html so you can just bypass the registration to view the cars. There is no way I would fill out a form just to view a webpage (just an excuse to build a mailing database) - just makes me want to move on to another site.

Direct link to Ronal Car Index Page

Sorry Doug- 'net commerce is here.
A website is a storefront... Would you buy equipment from a fella running a shop from a hen house? The equipment might be great, but what about the quality of service?
I'm sure RonalUSA is a great company with good products... it can sure afford a copy of Photoshop and prolly an HTML book or two.

Gary's post was informative post. I cannot recall his request for opinions regarding the web mastery at the Ronal site.
Rather than publically ridicule the site in the general forum, email him with a proposal. The obtuse comment, however, that I would have purchased Ronals but for the . . . on the web page was a bit childish.
Personally, I read and talk to informed individuals about products rather than saying "ah, a pretty website, why don't I buy from here."

hiring an expensive Web designer would require a price hike on the Ronal wheels. Ronal makes some of the best wheels out there, at prices far below lesser wheels. Let's keep it that way! :-) Besides, Some Web sites are so loaded up with unnecessary BS that it takes 10 minutes to load the page. I appreciate the simplicity, thank you very much!
Charles
...Gary would hire JayP now, so JayP potentially lost some business. So, the real loser in this could be JayP, correct? I know someone who could help Gary with updating, but I think Gary is probably building his site. Most sites evolve. They don't just suddenly appear all beautiful to begin with.
Charles
I agree, most sites evolve but many are never released to the public unless its been thru a generation.
And nowadays the software (graphics, html, etc) can allow anyone to build a very tasteful site that can be viewed by most browsers on most resolutions.
And it doesn't take a rocket scientist- I'm proof of that. (but it did pay for the A4!)

I don't need or want Gary's money. If I were in his shoes, I would want constructive criticism of my new web site, especially from potential customers.
In my opinion, he could get much better results using fewer and better graphics. He's made some other common mistakes too, like requiring that a registration-like form be filled out in order to gain access to some content. Most people won't bother.
Ronal's web site is potentially a gold mine for them. If they're going to do it, they should do it right. That's all I'm saying. So get off my back, eh?
richard b.
96 QM
