To all that are interested, Apex Driver Training is having a FULL day track even using the Fabi portion of Shannonville on Wednesday June 14, 2006. This event will have mainly Audi, Porsche and VW vehicles.

This event will be open to all driver experience levels and there will be an optional classroom and skidpad sessions. There is a 30 car limit so there will be LOTS of track time but safety is the primary concern of course. Lunch is supplied and water throughout the day.

I am definitely going.

Lets go! Who is in? I want to see a good Audi representation.

$399 + GST and if you book before the end of March you get 10% off.

I was there last year, also setup by Apex. Was passing Porsches and, oh wait, it was pouring rain and the Porsche was on R-compounds and me on all seasons :)

Was a lot of fun, I'd do it again if the prices were lower... I'm already spending enough money for that month.

Uh right.

On a track, you got marshalls watching out for everybody. Drive as hard as you can with run off space. No need to worry about wildlife. And I can go on and on.

Sorry, but there's more than life than just curvy roads.

to be honest the stock suspension is probably a little easier to work with than aftermarket suspension if you are a track n00b.

My stock brakes survived 3 track sessions and a few years of aggressive street driving. They just died on me this week finally. Now I'm upgrading but only because I plan on getting in at least 6-8 track days this season.

take my word and and go for it... its the most fun I've ever had in a car... and trust me kid... I've got stories, so that is saying a lot!!! = P

of your normal weather comments...

There is no way to compare a track day to public roads... its just un-possible!

If you go out there and drive ten tenths on public roads, you pretty much deserve to be shot.

The track is the only place that any rational thinking person would ever consider going all out and pushing their car to the limit... and even then most of us tend to hold back just a little!

Also, with the autometer gauge, you can replace the bulb with a red LED that will match the interior lighting perfectly.

I haven't gone with an LED just yet, but even the red bulb with red bulb condom gets it pretty close... I'll be tossing in an LED as soon as my bulb dies, or I need to go into my console/vents for any reason.

If you want to check it out, let me know and I can meet up with you sometime.

Same old, same old. Say, how's the traffic on the 401 these days, still grid lock?

My drive to work in the morning is 15-20 minutes and so far I haven't ran into a major accident delay. And I don't use the 401. And if there is an accident I use the in-city route and it's only 10 minutes longer.

Oh and I used to walk 6-10 minutes to work anyways but I rather drive and enjoy the use of the car and music every day. And I'll be moving so my commute will be reduced by 10km each way.

People here choose where they want to live and how they want to commute, plus people here have a very flexible work arrangement.

Toronto has everything (almost) I want, one thing that's missing - the mountains but with all the stuff I have access to here, folks I know, etc. I wouldn't move anywhere else.

I can pretty much tell that you make a bunch of your posts just to fvck with us now... to be honest your posts don't even really bother me that much... I know what you're tying to do, and who am I to ruin your fun???

I generally only respond to make others laugh, and to simulate the tread a little.

We don't get much action on the Canadian forums unless Visti fvcks up a bumper, the Leafs play, or you post something stupid.

guys for a lap or two...

Last time out at mosport with Aman was fun as hell, and thats before he Stg 3'd his car.

I'm expecting it to be as fast as the race prepped Z06 that I got to go for a few laps in at Dunnville.

Honestly I'm planning on cranking down the boost and taking it nice and easy....only 1 trackday under my belt so far, if me and car make it out unscathed it will have been a good day

we'll definitely have to take a few laps....you're the pro now, so you can instruct me on what I do wrong!

Last time out at the track you were in stock mode weren't you?

Its probably a good idea until you get comfortable with the car... I wish I could crank up the boost for the track myself.

I would have had a bigger turbo right now if I didn't end up having to spend a ton of cash getting control arms, wheel bearings, and brakes replaced on all four corners this week! Arghh!!!

Should be a fun afternoon though.

And dude, that sucks about the maintenance stuff....a major dude on the S4 board is parting out/jumping ship just b/c of maintenance costs!! (ryans4)

sucky, but you gotta pay to play right? Yeah, that's how I justify it to myself....

It would only cost about $50 each time to install before and unistall them after + the cost of the pads.

With that you will notice a big difference after a lap or two when OEM brake pads really start to fade.

You won't regret it!

Now I wish I had this setup I could use...

Similar setup was used on a Corvette doing 100+ mph without a single issue. Makes for some awesome photos.

Haha, lots to pick from. Japanese, Korean, fast food, stuff I never seen before, etc.

Say Wednesday next week? Andre - I'll pick up that money for the F1 tickets from you then if that's alright.

Apex is organizing this right? I remember the day that it rained like mad near the end of the season last year, the organizer mentionend of a discount for those who were out that day.... hmmmm. I didn't pay in full but I know others like Ash and Alon were out there that day and wasn't really having a lot of fun dealing with all the standing water.

Full or pro track configurations are the only ones worth doing at Shannonville, and $400? WTF, do they provide the race cars for that price?

There will be better options for Shannonville bookings, last time I think I paid $100 or $150 for the full day full/pro track (switched configurations at 1pm)

Bruno_S4
03-25-2006, 06:37 AM
They include in car instructors for anyone who wants them (that is worth a lot right there), classroom sessions, skidpad, 0-60 runs (I think), lunch and passenger seat time for everyone in the Porsche race car with a professional driver (Jeff Papbst) at the wheel.

Safety is their #1 concern. I have been to cheaper events, but didn't get as much track time and it wasn't organized as well.

Also, we will be running with mainly fellow Audi, Porsche, VW guys. Not Hondas and Mazdas... for some that doesn't matter but for me it does.

How much in-car instruction is available? Why are they only using Fabi? It's so boring :(

Bruno_S4
03-25-2006, 10:33 PM
on every lap if you wish.

Most people go solo after lunch though.

Fabi is fun and safe for novice/intermediate level drivers. You can learn it quickly and get your confidence up before going full track.
