It was in silver, Ontario plates, Mark Motors dealership frames. It was a really distinctive shape that I couldn't have mistaken it for something else. I was in my S4 and this A2 came up behind me. I let it pass and took a long glance at it. Two people were in the car but they didn't wave at me.
Don't know if it is a diplomatic sale or government doing testing in the nation's capital. I also saw a Mercedes-Benz A-class (on road) and a SMART (on dealer's lot) some time ago before.

To bring an A2 and let us do some testing with it. I wasn't aware that there was one around here. You've give me something to investigate now!

They were showing the A2 and some other smart cars at the Toronto auto show as shown below. Transport Canada's doing a test.

I think it belonged to Transport Canada. There were similar cars from Benz, VW and someone else. Check out my picture poster for other pics.

I was at Mark Motors this morning for maintenance work and the A2 was there (although I think it was blue, but maybe not). I talked to the guys there and they said it's for Transport Canada testing to see if they can sell it in Canada.
Pretty neat looking car, that's for sure!

Back at Mark Motors again to pick up my car, got talking to the folks there...
- there are two A2s in Ottawa, one blue and one silver, both for Transport Canada testing. They'll be crash-tested after the roadwork but probably won't see a market here. One service guy said the blue one isn't a great drive since it's a diesel.
- the A4 Multitronic (CVT) will be available with quattro around May '03.
- the service technicians are going on 10-day training for the new A8 quite soon, I suppose this means we'll be seeing the A8s shortly afterwards?
- they mentioned two Audi SUVs coming next year, one small and one large. The large one is a rebadged VW Magellan.
