Hard pill, but got it out of the way before VIR. Well, they're due on 10/05. :oP

Who's buying me lunch tomorrow?

No way I'd give them money two weeks before it's due.

Crap, that reminds me, Ashley needs an emissions inspection. Her registration is due in October too.

My 2003 Honda Element w/108K miles is worth almost $13K according to them. Best I could find is Edmunds at roughly $9500. And that's being generous.

At least that's how it was calculated in CA.

They always use your purchase price as stipulated on the sales agreement or the bill of sale. If that number is extremely low or out of whack, then they reserve the right to use the bluebook value of the car.

But stating that he wants to give her "an emissions inspection" is probably none of our business.

There are two things that are quite funny on the personal property tax.
1. How they appreciate your vehicle (if I took my car to carmax and it lower can I argue of what they are asking for?)

2. How they make it to show how generous it is that they are collecting from you 1/4 of what they would originally have to pay.

My 2003 Element with over 100K miles won't sell for what they are basing the value on.

I've never thought about what the car is worth in the market based on the number of miles it has, etc.
