View Full Version : Advice needed: 2000 Sport Rims vs. 5 -Spoke Zsolt 11-10-1999, 09:30 AM until I was enlightened. The mod is a must. hy 12-10-1999, 07:10 PM Hi, I am just about to take delivery on an 2000 1.8TQMSX....( I forgot what other letters to put on, but basically it's everything.) Anyway, to make a long story short, my first impression of the new sport rims was that it was ugly. I actually think the 5 spoke are the best ones of all of the A4 rims. (I own a '96 A4). That was one of the features that attracted me to the A4 in the first place. So, i got the dealer to agree to swap the rims for me. When i asked a friend for a second opinion, he said that the sport ones weren't that bad. Can someone please help me put this into perspective? I still like the 5 spoke better, but on the other hand, I wouldn't mind a little change either. Thanks in advance. DMoore 12-10-1999, 08:07 PM But my vote is for the 5 spoke. I think that's the best looking wheel I've seen on the A4. I did something similar years ago. When I traded in my '91 Coupe Q for a '94 90Q, I had them take the Speedline wheels off my Coupe and install them on the 90. DMoore '00 S4 Jon W 12-10-1999, 08:52 PM I'm like you. I'm waiting on my '00 1.8 and I sold my stock sports and bought some 2 yr. old 5 spokers from someone else. I love the look of them and don't think I could get used to the 10 spokers. They're boring and would be a real pain in the ass to clean break dust off of (imagine cleaning all those little sides and grooves!!!). Anyway you asked for an opinion and that's mine. Roy M 12-11-1999, 03:46 AM I agree with the other posts in the fact it is hard to beat the look of the orginal Audi 5 spokes. There is just something really classic about that wheel. As a side benefit it is very easy to clean. The 5 spoke wheel is what first caught my eye on the A4. Just my opinion, you will need to make the final choice. Roy M 99.5 1.8Tqm & 98.5 2.8qTip (Both with Audi 5 spokes) Mark M 12-11-1999, 05:11 AM My vote is for the 5 spoke. I tried to get the dealer to swap my 7spokes for the 5s when I bought my car but he wouldn't. He was still upset that I got him to sell it to me for $750 over invoice. Ive gotten used to the 7s but I think the 5 is the best looking wheel. Ive have seen the new 10s and in my opion the previous 7s looked better and the 5s look the best of all. In fact, I mounted my snow on a 15" 5spoke OEM replica. Looks great. Get the 5s. Plus they'll be alot easier to clean. The 7s can be a pain, Id imagine the 10s are a real pain. |
