Could you post the part # and a photo when you're done? As I need to do this too.

I have done PES, xenons, Eibach/Bilstein, 18" wheels on the way, brakes soon to follow, Brullen Exhaust, LLTek rear wing, Valentine 1, red dome light mod, stereo...hmmm what is left with me to tinker with :)
It's a REAL fun car.
It can scare friends when I drive sometimes...

I took delivery of my brand spankin' new A4 last night, and just picked up an Audi CD changer. I understand the install is simple:
1. Open panel and remove metal housing that holds the changer and toolbox.
2. Use the 4 screws to attach the changer to the housing.
3. Fish down into the wheelwell for the round-foam covered connector.
4. Connect the changer.
5. Re-install housing and panel.
6. Rock!

Very simply stated, but I can't see how to get the metal housing out! Can anyone who has done this shed some light?

TIA!

and I think they are, you don't need to remove the metal housing. Just remove the panel, look for the connector through the housing and plug it in. You'll be able to get to three of the four screws easily. I did not put the fourth screw on and 4500 miles later, still no problems. Many also didn't bother with the fourth screw.

I picked my 00 2.8 up this afternoon and just tried installing the changer - not much room in there for hands or tools! I could only get the front-right screw in. Decided to come inside & search the archives for help!

I just installed the factory CD changer in my
new 99.5 A4 1.8TQ-Tip a few days ago. After
looking things over and puzzling over how to get
at the 4 screws in the mounting bracket, I ended
up biting the bullet and removing the driver's
side trunk liner (and the plastic piece at
the bottom of the trunk entrance). Once
the liner is removed it's easy to get at
the 6 bolts that hold the mounting bracket in
place. Remove the bracket, install the changer
and reverse the process. I think it took me
all of about 45 minutes from start to finish.
