$5K or less although I really doubt they'll go for that cheap.

I'm about to close the deal on a 94 Integra. I want something that gets good mileage and takes 87.

I would never suggest buying a german car as a 'beater'....you'll usually have better luck w/ a japanese car in terms of reliability and repairs.
Although a TDI would be pretty nice right now w/ Diesel sitting ~$1.65/gal!

I didn't say BUY, I said TEST DRIVE.
Could make for a fun afternoon :)

$1.65/gallon is not bad and when you can get 45 miles for that $1.65, that's not bad either...but TDIs are really hard to find right now.

Not an easy find in the US to begin with, and w/ gas prices being so high, they must be selling very well.

But if I were going to buy an SUV that would be one of my first test drives.

Not sure about their sales dept though. Supposed to be one of the largest in the area. Marten's on Wisconsin just north of Tenley and south of Frienship Heights. Couple of people here purchased at Springfield VW - off Backlick Rd I believe - though their service is so-so according to my sources. Get the TDI - if you're buddy's gonna get a slow Golf, might as well get a unique one that can be modded.
