Stayed at Chatham Wayside Inn or something like that - was very good. You should definitely do the whale watching tours - great fun, we saw lots. There are seal colonies too, but not sure how easy it would be to bring your kid. And then I thought Provincetown was good fun as well. Finally, there's this bar on the eastern shore nestled in the dunes on the way to P town from Chatham where they have live bands and there was a good crowd, but you want to leave the baby home for that one....

Provincetown - For a good high end meal; Nappy's restaurant, informal outdoor food; Mojo (near the warf)
Wellfleet - Marconi site, rail trail if you bike, rent a kiddie trailer bike
Look for fresh water ponds in Chatham were you can rent a boat or has a beach
Chatham has a few good restaurants.
We go up to the Cape (Wellfleet)several times a year and have for many years. We used to go to Chatham. Nice bandshell concerts there.

Most towns limit daytime parking to residents or tenants of the town, but after hours all are welcomed.

Best chow w/ 16 month old: Squire-bar side all the food is good there.

400 Club in Harwich for a change-food not as good but okay place.

If your kid is quiet one of the better restaurants in town is above the Dunkin Donuts-reservations recomended-I cant recall the name.

Breakfast-best place is Chatham Bakery - headed into town, gas station on right-chatham market on right-hang a left at the 5 way cross-street-go 1/4 mile-good donuts/coffee/egg n cheese

Activities-we have a 2 year old and an 8 week old-Im planning on taking my 2 year old on a seal cruise, and I take her on my bike (trailer) every few days on the rail trail to go to the playground in harwich-she loves it. Beaches-find a shallow beach with moving water as tides change-little one can play in the shallow puddles...I can tell u where if you want. I fish, as much as humanly possible-so bring a rod cause fishing is usually excellent this time of year.

Def do a few nights visiting the lighthouse

That little beach in front of teh lighthouse is good for kiting too..

Like NYImola said, seal/whale watches are fun, I usually drive out to providence for that
