I was giving the wife's A4 a last detail in anticipation of the lease inspection.

I removed the shift surround to get some of the crumbs and debris and saw it was necessary to lift up the ash tray to get some melted crayon off the console... There are two 8mm bolts on the left and right of the front edge of the ashtry that allowed me to lift it up for cleaning, but it won't seat back down now. Any ideas on how to get it back in?

the inspector isnt looking for stuff like that..i have cars come back in with broken arm rests & glove boxes and they dont get charged. They are mainly looking for body damage, curbed wheels, stuff like that.

You might need to remove some other stuff first to get it back in.

6) Un-bolt the two bolts holding the ashtray in.

At this point if you are doing this at the same time the radio is out, things will be simple.
If you have the radio tools take the radio out!

7) Remove radio & Climate Control

just keep at it and you will get it, I don't think there is an easy way to do it.

Wonder if my wife will notice..
