OK, hope this isn't taken as spam...I have no financial interest in it, so prolly isn't.
I just moved back to NY ( Nov 15th,, but I say "just" cuz this is a really bad time to move..) and have been getting re-established.
When I lived here ten years ago, I was a mechanic. I realized very early on that there was no good way to make a living doing that ****, so I left and now I am a sales drone:)
When I was here I was an ASE certified tech. I was lead tech at a few larger local shops, and was in a posistion to do most of the HR stuff and training at my shops. The kid who lived down the street showed a lot of interest in cars, and at age 14 I had him working with me on my street cars and the race cars ( I did a lot of work for the circle track guys at Albany Saratoga Speedway and some street racing in Colonie at the lot and Taft. Those of you who grew up here have a clue...) Chris worked for me on and off over the years, and he was good.
Anyway ( long winded bastard, huh? ) I left to make my fortunes elsewhere and have recently decided to come back. OK, the ex pretty much forced the issue by moving here, and since I like my son...
Met up with Chris on Friday, and he has his own shop. He does mostly high performance work, and a lot on older cars, but plenty of new stuff too. His shop is in Ballston Spa.
His rates are decent ( $50 per hour ) he is fair, he will be careful, you can trust him, and I will be hanging out there a bit so I can answer any Audi specific stuff he doesn't know. He will have access to my VAG tool ( as soon as I get the forking thing, it will be an X-Mas present...)
I have scales, so weight balancing coilovers is a non issue, I can, and I know he can, handle anything else ( KO4 upgrades, brakes, clutches, snub mounts.. whatever..)
Your hanging around to watch is allowed assuming yer not a pain in the arse and you buy the pizza. Don't expect a loaner, or to be coddled, but do expect solid work with no mistakes.
In short, what the dealer shoud do but doesn't. You will *not* get the car back telling you nothing is wrong when something is, you will *not* get treated like you are a problem, you *will* like what he does and that it is done on time.
You can ping me if you want to talk to him or you have any stuff you want done now. I will dig up his phone # and edit this post with it when I find it.
All that being said...now the spam:) Would someone please come buy a boat, RV, trailer, jet ski or snowmobile from me??????
Working sales this time of year *sucks*:)
