I have a 97 A4 1.8T and am looking to have 60K mile service and timing belt replacement done. Dealer prices seem high. Can anyone recommend and independent service person?

try JP motors in Woodbridge. They are a bit pricey but do a thorough and professional job all the time.

I called them and they seemed just as expensive as the dealer. I was a little concerned that they did not plan to replace the tensioner assembly while doing the timing belt, since this seems to be a known problem. If they were to replace it, they would charge the same as the dealer for the timing belt as well. Thanks
