I like the 3.0 quatro betetr then the 1.8T but my friend Mike has a GTI 1.8T and says I should get that one. I like the 3.0 better and I wanted to know which one is better and what you guys like. I am thinking a new A4 or a used 98-99 M3. I always wanted a new car so I think I am going to get the Audi. I am looking to spend just over 30k on the car. Please post your comments.

Currently I have a 1996 Supercharged Maxima which I am looking to part out with. I like it and all but its just time for a new car. The link below is my cardomain homepage if you want to check it out. I have dumped ALOT of money into it and do not really plan on puting alot into my new car.

also if anyone from CT knows where I should go dealer wise which is the best to deal with price and service please let me know. I am in fairfield county area.

http://maxima.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=13452

I would go for the 1.8T if I were in your situation.

You basically get the Nav system, full power seats and full leather as options on the 3.0 whereas you can't choose those options on the 1.8t. I have the 1.8t and wish it were faster sometimes, so I will buy my chip this spring. However, the 3.0's speed did not impress me enough during my test drive for me to shell out the extra cash for it so I ended up getting the 1.8t. yes the 3.0 is quicker, and dollar for dollar I recomend the 1.8t but test drive both before you take anyones decision.

I'm working on the same thing and right now and am planning on the 1.8T.

As near as I can tell there are three dealers in our area - New Country (Greenwich), Fairfield Motor Cars, and Danbury Audi. Because I live close to New Country, that's where I've been shopping, and I can't tell you much about the other two.

The list prices at New Country seem to match what I saw on Edmunds and Consumer Reports - I haven't started haggling yet, so I don't know how far they'll go down from list, but they are apparently still the largest Audi dealer in the world, so I figure the odds are probably better. On the other hand, both New Country and Fairfield are in very wealthy communities so they may not be as willing to negotiate as maybe Danbury.

New Country has a good reputation in the Greenwich area for service. The last car we bought from them was a VW for my sister back in the days when they were Pray Audi/VW, but we have friends who have bought A4s, A6s, and TTs from New Country within the last two years and they have no complaints about service - and they all love their Audis.

One thing you should know about New Country is that all their Audis come with the "Premium Package," as a starting point - if you don't want that, they told me it was nine weeks to order a car without it (though I'm sure if you wanted they could call around and find one at another dealer).

You may want to check out the "On the border" group as well - I don't think there's much info on their site, though.

CT-NY On The Border Audi Group
