a friend has a 1990 v8 quattro, (appearently a rare model that required "special" tools), that is in need of a timing belt. the dealer bills out at 10 hours flat rate, (~$700 for labor alone), plus parts etc.

so can anyone recommend a shop in southern ct or thearea?

They are German car specialists. I went there for emissions related work, they were honest, competent and prompt. Near exit 59 of the Merritt parkway.
