Glenn and Ray both mentioned having Audi service do a headlight adjustment. Tom Wood Audi in Indianapolis adjusted mine yesterday during my 10,000 mile service and the difference is amazing. The low-beam dispersion is much better and they seem to be at least twice as bright as when it came from the factory. It's people like these two that make this board great. Thanks Gentleman.
Klutes 98 Silver 1.8 TQMS w/paint chips galore and improved night vision.

That's great info--I've been wondering lately what to do about these horrible lights. (I have headlights + foglights on--still pretty bad.)
10,000 miles?! Wow!
Suzane

I can sympathize with you about the paint chips... At almost 30k now, I have what I feel is MORE than my share.. especially on my Abt spoiler! Oh well... such is life...
I am kinda anal when it comes to my seeing at night, (I carry the allen wrench to adjust them at all times..) and I agree, adjusting them makes a big difference. But even with some 70watt clears, there was SIGNIFICANT improvement in performance when I changed to the H4 euro's... But the cutoff on the US H7's IS better than 90% of the cars out there.
But for those who drive agressively at night, the e-codes are WELL worth the money.. ask my Dad, who was riding shotgun with me through some passes in Colorado when the Superwhites lit up some deer... I think his retna prints are still on the inside of the windshield.. :)
The way I figured it, $500 worth of headlight and bulbs saved me THOUSANDS in deer-strike repairs..
Rich Quinlan
Nowhere near stock 1.8tqms

Quinland

I find that if I leave the foglights on, I concentrate too much on what's close to the car, when in reality, if anything is in range of the foglights, it's too late to do anything about it. They help for low speed driving though, like in neighborhoods and in, surprise, fog.
98.5 Wett RamAir'ed Santorin Blue 2.8QMS

I'm here most of the day, since, as a Software Engineer, I'm always in front of this darn PC. I keep the forum up all day, and use it for brain breaks. Glad I could be of help someone. I apologize if my posts sometimes offend someone. This can happen I guess when I am having a bad day (like right now I am being forced to work on a F***ING As/400 green screen. God, I hate that piece of S**T!).

This modern generation - are afraid to get in there and experiment!
The owner's manual sez which screws adjust vertical adjustment. Shine lights on wall and move screws one way. If lights move down, you're turning screw in wrong direction; turn it in the other direction. Keep playing until you find something that looks good, gor for a drive. Don't like it, turn screws in or out and see if it improves things.
I'm using stock bulbs; I believe hi power bulbs could lead to excessive line loads or overheating the headlight assemblies (more watts = more heat).
If STILL not satisfied, my opinion is to get Euros; these Super White bulbs won't help the light pattern, which is a gummint-controlled pattern from what I know. the bad pattern to me is major complaint with US lights, from pevious Auid and Porsche experience.

Hi Suzane. Long time no hear from. They'd probably be happy to do yours too. Yep, 10,000. Still haven't moved, but you probably guessed that. I think service at Tom Wood is pretty good, especially considering that I didn't buy my car there.
klutes

I got mine (the Valeo-type that uses H4's) from LLTek, and the Bosch H7/H7/H1 euro's are available from a wide variety of sources, including Autobahn Int'l...
Rich Quinlan

Quinland
