I've been contracted to detail Tony's car so I thought that might be a good time for us to get together.

View Full Version : Who's up for a detailing session on October 5th? (Houston) NickS 09-30-2002, 10:48 AM I've been contracted to detail Tony's car so I thought that might be a good time for us to get together. Lemmy know! PeteH 09-30-2002, 11:22 AM LCP 09-30-2002, 12:26 PM I think the labor time is very short. jasyn³ 09-30-2002, 12:28 PM this is still the "ask nicks" forum right? hehe where's it gonna be? jasyn³ 09-30-2002, 12:29 PM NickS 09-30-2002, 12:37 PM I'm going to be at Tonys house then I have another appointment at Roberts. Tony's will be first thing in the morning....like 8:00am! PeteH 09-30-2002, 12:39 PM Steven suggested I bring the car by and he'd do an estimate. Then call AoA and see what they would be willing to do. New, the part is at least $750 (Mike Staley's price) and figure about two hours labor... so I'm probably close to $1k. I bought a used ABS pump from Dad's Recyclers for $450. It's from a 2000 S4, no ESP, with 7000 miles before going to the scrap-heap. I doubt AoA would be able to do better than that. Besides, this way I have it finished in time for the DE the following weekend! PeteH PeteH 09-30-2002, 12:42 PM From what I can see... two bolts hold the pump in place, and there are two in-lines and four out-lines to remove. Then, unplug the electronic gizmo on the side (probably do that first!). The biggest hassle will probably be bleeding the brakes. But, at least I can fill it with something good, just in time for the track! PeteH NickS 09-30-2002, 12:51 PM PeteH 09-30-2002, 01:08 PM LCP 09-30-2002, 01:18 PM Although Dan only used 1.0L for the flush, and I know the capacity is 1.2L, and I usually go through 1.5L to do the flush, so it sounds like he didn't do a complete flush on all 4 corners. The book labor on this was less than 2 hours I'm pretty sure. BTW, the part was $1,0xx at the dealer's normal price. jasyn³ 09-30-2002, 01:30 PM jasyn³ 09-30-2002, 01:31 PM PeteH 09-30-2002, 01:35 PM Mike Staley can get the ABS pumpfor about $750, but reatil at the dealer is right at $1k. I like the barely used one with a 6 month warranty that I just bought for $450.
