View Full Version : VAG tool, Houston

Any Houston folk kind enough to reprogram my central locking system to enable some of the "easter eggs" therein? I would like to do it but I don't have the VAG tool and I can't justify buying it just to do this (I would probably never use it again). I live in west Houston but would drive anywhere in Houston to get it done. Thanks.
Also, I read recently that when your car is chipped, your rev limiter gets bumped up. It is then possible to cause a engine fault code if you go rev your engine too high? Would this code be detectable by a VAG tool?
Would it cause me problems if I took it in for service and such a fault was detected?
Please clarify any misconceptions I may have.

will be down for ANYTHING this weekend. i need a breather.

no dtcs so far and i've reved mine up to 73k+ rpms once .. emergency stop .. right foot too used to "heel/toe" position, reved the engine when i slammed on the brake.

we can easily check for any dtcs though. i wouldnt worry about it too much unless you make it a daily habit. =)

Oh well, I guess I'll find out if the dealer wants to stick it to me on Thursday when I go for 30k service... I'm sure I revved past 7100 when trying to work out that toe-heel braking deal... doh...

Thanks for the help. What part of town are you located in? Even though DonP seems closest to me (I'm Memorial and Dairy Ashford), I would drive to check out that APR Stage III setup you got... I read about your SIII install experience in the archives (living vicariously through other's stage III experiences in the archives) and salute your do-your-own stage III courage.

DonP is also the author of several tech articles(I think)... the chance to meet a celebrity!

i'm around the compaq center/greenway plaza area .. (59 and buffalo speedway).

sure. i'd be glad to meet up with you sometime. i may be heading over your way this sat actually. i'm feeling the itch for more "go fast" juice. =)

and my DIY stage3 install had nothing to do with courage. it's a story i've repeated often enough already. =/
