new england roads are terrible and i dont want to lower it much due to road conditions but a little bit might be nice with 18's on the S4. Thoughts?<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/suspension.jsp?&amp;make=H%26R&amp;model=Sport+Spring+Set&amp; group=Sport+Spring+Set&amp;autoMake=Audi&amp;autoModel=S4+ Sedan&amp;autoYear=2001&amp;autoModClar=&amp;partNum=29477.1&amp;p erfCode=P">T

I find them to be fine, not too harsh.

They weren't exactly too harsh, but the stock dampers did not work well with them so I was nervous of hitting the suspension stops if I ran over a big pothole. When going over a dip in the road I would experience some mild pogo, again because the dampers were not stiff enough for the springs.

I found them to be a touch too low for my taste as well. The car's stance looked nice, but for our road conditions I would have preferred the ride height to be .25-.5in higher in the front.

Now I am on Vogtland GT's and they are much better. 'harshness' is about the same as the H&amp;R springs I had, but the suspension movement is much more controlled/damped. They also respond much better when you are pushing fast through a corner. Height adjustable too, so I can pick my preferred clearance.

I still have the H&amp;R springs though, so if you decide that is what you want I will give them to you for real cheap.

Are you planning on running them with stock shocks if you get them?

spring rates. The ride may get bouncy per threads I've read from people running just springs.

Anyone even cut stock springs?

and it looked dumped, the ride was far too harsh for my normal commute (roads from 95/128 to Lynn), and I could not wait to get rid of them.

Switched to H&amp;R coilovers, and was happier, but for my next car, stuck with the OEM sport suspension (with aftermarket sway bars).

How much are you looking to spend overall? If you can wait, maybe save up for a shock/spring set and do it right the first time around. If you're around the city, you can take a ride in my car to get a feel for it.

I'm pretty much by 260 Franklin every day. Usually though there's traffic so not much of a ride unless you like stop and go haha. When ever though, let me know!

The roads here in Maine are real rough and the ride is firm but not jaring.

...I did the looks-over-ride thing on my last car, and found that aftermarket suspensions were too harsh for my daily drive. Although I have the $$ to get the Bilstein PSS9 coilovers for the 4.2, I have been reluctant to do it since I like the way the OEM sport handles (paired with the H-sport sways). Sure, maybe the car would look a bit better dropped 1/2" or so, but I'd rather not sacrifice the ride/handling I have now just for looks.

the ride was too harsh for a daily? You should try out my car sometime now that I've got both the Koni and H&amp;R springs in. Comfortable for my daily commute but much much better handling.

on 11/19 so missed it by a few days. Do you remember what the ride was like with just the Konis?

...it had been a while since I commuted while rowing gears.
