I asked the service adviser if I should go a year without changing the oil, he said it should be ok because they use synthetic. Agree?

You wife obviously doesn't drive far, so a lot of short trips tends to lead to a lot more gas being diluted into the oil, and I personally like chaning oil between 3-5k, and not to mention that between seasons I change oil weights for the winter vs summer.

Is it the end of the world? No. Would I expect the dealer to say that? Yes. If you are planning on keeping the car forever, then change it, If not then stick to what they tell you.

I lived in Europe my entire life and NOBODY changes their oil every 8000km/5000mi.... even the in the manual of the car the recommended interval is 7000mi, but you know what they say "When in Rome..."

I'm curious to know how the oil is doing and what kind of intervals its good for. Been doing 5k changes since new.
