96 A4QM uses one quart per 800 miles or a little less depending on how I drive. (in town, or hiway)
dealer ran a oil test and it fell within specs.
1.5 qts per 1500 miles.
the dip stick sucks.

Hi there,
lots of interesting comments on this board. I recently purchased a 1999.5 A4 2.8 quattro and would like to try a chip ugrade for it. Does it make sense? What is the best option here, I've heard several companies mentioned.
Thanks in advance,
Alex

I was thinking of chipping myself both the engine and tiptronic but after much debate I figured that it was just not worth it. You gain very little horsepower, loose speed limiter, supposely get better fuel economy. However the one thing that would be worth while is the position of rpms when driving around town. The new location allows for better mid accelation which can be useful if you want to get out of a tight situation or like to drive more aggresively in mild traffic.
But after some debate I figured it just not worth it. I think I would save my money for something worth while like a Vortec Supercharger! I believe GreedSpeed is going to be releasing something in march for the 2.8! Somewhere around 280-325 HP depending and somewhere along the lines of $3500!!
When that comes out and a few people try it I will signup!
