Don't forget, summer tire compounds get pretty hard and hockey-puckish in cold weather. Even if there is no snow, winter tires are still a better and safer bet for braking. 4Driver4 01-16-2007, 09:20 AM tehA8PIMP 01-16-2007, 10:56 AM I admit my Dunlop M3s and M2s have been more sporty than the ol skool Blizzak Ws15/ws50 , but I still prefer the non trucky A/S or summer tire. If I notice any issue with panic stops once we go below 32 for the first daily drive, I will gladly come back to eat crow ;) Boston Driver 01-16-2007, 12:26 PM the tread compounds are meant to operate at a certain temperature range. When below freezing,t eh comounds get really hard and actually wear out faster, while providing not very good grip. I was not posting the earlier reply for auto-X, but we all have to stop, soemtimes in emergency conditions, right? Isn't safety more imporant? 1 car length could be the difference between you stopping in time and a pedestrian who jumped out in a crosswalk under your car.... |
