I used my AC today for the first time this summer.

It was so hot outside and I was sitting stopped on 95 for so long, that it stopped blowing cold air. Eventually, I moved 10ft and that was enough to get a brief gust of cold air, but then the parking lot came to a halt again. Oil and coolant temp were both above the halfway marks.

Beat the really bad heat today, but yesterday was no picnic. Must have drunk a gallon of water while doing it. Learned that Menzerna products do just fine in the heat. You just need to leave the glaze and FMJ on for about 1/2 an hour so it can set up. Used the time to go inside and cool off. Car is looking pretty good now.

I left work in Newton 30 mins later than usual yesterday and it was 95 on the car thermometer. The sky was fine but I looked southbound toward Stoughton and it was serious black clouds and tons lightning flashes. Many were simultaneous.

I didn't hear my cell ring but when I noticed a vmail message, it was my wife saying it was really bad at home, like a hurricane and her message got cutoff just as the power went out.

My whole ride home I could see the storm in front of me but I never got rained on...I was following in its path.

By the time I got to Norwood it was down to 77 degrees and the roads were wet but no damage seen.

As I got into Canton, there were bigger puddles and lots of leaves and twigs.

Then as I got into Stoughton/Sharon I was weaving back and forth to get around branches and downed powerlines. Going through flooded sections. Trees were down in yards, down on houses, down on cars. People were just coming out of their houses to checkout the damages.

It was weird to drive through just as it all came by and I had my top down the whole time! Had I left my usual time, I would have been driving with the storm.

I finally got home and just after the turn for my street the road ahead was closed due to a downed powerline. All traffic was turning down my street to make a U-turn.

It was 75 degrees at my house. I walk around my house and I had two small branches to pick up and not even extra leaves! Really weird how I was spared any damage, when just 20 ft away a branch took down power lines.

The power was restored this morning at 5:20am.

Click the Video titled "Towns Left Without Power". It talks about a "microburst" and the house on Plain St. they show is 1/4 mi from me.

Towns Left Without Power

to show for dinner at the local Chinese Rest. and the ligning strikes were just absolutely vivid ...so out of concern I called my neighbor (I live in Sharon) and she tells me that power is out and all traffic was detoured down our street .... so I get home after dinner (driving under a fallen tree across the road) 3 of the house's breakers was tripped as well as the garage breaker ... no damage
to the house or the yard but there was a bit of water in the garage from the runoff ... lost my internet connection too (damn Comcast) ... that's my story!!

and I work in Natick (downtown). DO you want me to throw a few in the car for you? You can come by and grab them tomorrow if you want.

My wife and I got them years ago when we de-leaded our first house. Have used a few here and there stuffed with leaves for Halloween :)))

Let me know if you want some.

Nice sewer hole, pile of fur, and toxic swimming pool ;^)

At least it will be worth it when it's finally finished, and you saved tens of thousands because you did the work yourself. Ambitious to say the least.

kitchen to the studs and the downstairs bath. Every other room in the house had 5 layers of wallpaper (no joke) so we had a friend skim coat the walls that did pro drywall before working for my dad as an electrician. Father is a master electrician and best friend's father is a master plumber. Lets just say it wouldn't have been possible (cost wise) without them and some of thier contacts. It's great knowing people in different trade businesses. Also, my father had almost every tree on our property taken down as a wedding gift to my wife and I (=. I don't have the pics here but they are a hoot. I'll see if I can upload them from home. It's such a difference.
