View Full Version : any good exhaust shops in Boston area? DxC 07-31-2006, 08:11 AM I just need a new o2 sensor bung welded. any recommendations? thanks DxC 07-31-2006, 09:04 AM CP 07-31-2006, 09:14 AM getting an O2 bung welded onto my downpipe. I'll go back there for sure. They were nice, didn't care if you walked around in the garage area and watched, answered questions, and were relatively cheap. They make all their exhausts from scratch. There was a guy there with a brand new Pontiac Solstice getting a system made. They mandrel bend the pipes, and build the system on the car. Pretty slick if you ask me. All the guys working there appeared to know wtf they were doing, which impressed me too. Ray Khan 07-31-2006, 10:27 AM but yes they are pretty expereinced and I've had good luck with them. Mirror|rorriM 07-31-2006, 10:29 AM The shop in North Reading is great. The other shops with the same name are.... not. CP 07-31-2006, 11:04 AM Glad I went to that one then, as it was my first experience with a Lou's, and the closest to my house. Maybe they don't mandrel bend, but they were bending nonetheless. I thought they were mandrels. Ray Khan 07-31-2006, 11:06 AM exhaust would put out if you were to dyno them. Either the car can gain a little or a lot from opening up flow. Considering how poorly some products fit, I would rather go custom next time around. Mirror|rorriM 07-31-2006, 11:14 AM When he had his first set of straight pipes on his S4, it made this horrid screeching noise at WOT. Well, it wasn't so bad sounding, it was just painful at distance <1mi. Anyway, the sound went away when he had Lou's redo it with mandrel bends. germantoy 07-31-2006, 11:21 AM when you go to 3 it takes away from the pipe when they crimp bend it Ray Khan 07-31-2006, 05:38 PM Mirror|rorriM 07-31-2006, 05:48 PM Are you sure they can't do their own mandrel bends there? It's not just that they can only do them for pipes within a certain range of sizes? Ray Khan 08-01-2006, 07:09 AM perhaps they can now. In any case, the stuff they do doesn't have crinkles in the bends from what I was seeing. My APR is falling apart and if APR won't cover a new one under warranty, I might just have Lou's do it and re use the mifflers or something. Mirror|rorriM 08-01-2006, 07:22 AM Let me guess, it's falling apart around the welds? CP 08-01-2006, 09:13 AM This was back in 2000, August to December. I'd go custom now (which I just did for the Galant) so I can watch the system being built and make annoying comments...and take it back when it tries to fall off the car at track events. PS Ray: I've got the wideband up and running. I'm going to look into hooking it to my ECU (unused EGR port) so that my logger can see it, and log it during pulls. I'm waiting until it cools off a bit to go make some initial tuning runs. Mirror|rorriM 08-01-2006, 09:43 AM The Miltek I recently got was in pretty good condition and was, I think, about four or five years old. Ray Khan 08-01-2006, 10:08 AM I had to have my own flex section welded into the DP a while ago but now the whole DP is pretty rusted. I'd like to start with something new. Ray Khan 08-01-2006, 10:09 AM not like the car isn't going to see boost in hot weather. |
