have a parking space for rent? I'm moving to an apt. on Congress street in October and after living in Boston for 4 years don't think I can handle on street parking. And I know my tt can't either.

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I lived on Middle Street in Portland and still work in Portland and found that the best rates for both monthly and overnight were the City owned garages. There is one on Free/Spring street which is next to Congress if you are near downtown. Toward the Eastern Prom...check out Temple Street. Plus city garages have $3/night parking during snow bans (if you don't do the monthly gig).

Portland used to have a big problem with cars getting broken into...I don't know if it is still a problem because I don't think anyone looking in my car would want an Audi Concert tape deck.

Welcome to Portland.

Plus the parking is waay cheaper, I wouldn't worry about it too much. A lot of people think that parking is a big problem, but with about 240k perm residents and ~400k daytime, it's not too bad compared to a city with more people than the whole state of Maine. No $30/day spaces in the whole city, I think.
