That's not much help, but just FYI. I recall from other pilot systems that basicly there is a part that acts as an 'ember' so that the pilot can stay lit. Is that piece in line with the end of the pilot? If it gets bent out of line I think that can happen, but that's just guessing.

the pilot? If I remember correctly, you place the red knob to "Pilot" to light the pilot but then you have to turn it back to "ON" once its lit.

Yes the pilot light has to be hitting the thermocouple or it will not maintain the pilot light.

Well, after a few hours it came to be that I was in need of a $65 dollar shop vac job. I felt terrible that I replaced everything and he just vac'd out the space under the burner....duh right? Fire + fresh air = happy fire.
Worked for 6 hours then pilot out again. So, after several hundred dollars in repair and replacement of parts that were not broken, I need to replace the whole thing. Cheers.
