ok so, i picked up a stage 2+ b5 s4 avant from another enthusiast in september, knowing full & well that it came with a damaged carpet... there was a fertilizer spill apparently, which basically ate through a very large portion of the passenger side carpet beneath the front seat.

it was cleaned up promptly, but left a gi-normous patch (which is white) missing in that area, and it's beginning to take its toll on my patience.

basically, since i'm not intelligent enough to find an oem price for a replacement, does anybody know where i can maybe source a full carpet on the cheap? or perhaps, have it repaired, similar to a rogaine for men fashion :p

any help would be appreciated!

The dark grey cabin carpet from a 2001 B5 S4 Sedan. I would expect the cabin carpet would be fine for an Avant. It's in pretty good shape, was pulled from an S4 prepped for One Lap with under 10K miles on it.

Got any pics? I would lean towards repairing it. How much damage is visible with the floor mat in place? Repair time could be pretty short depending on where you make the seams. Replacing just the passenger side may be a good option.

The carpet is all one piece and would be a real PITA to free it up near the front center of the trans. tunnel - HVAC & dash bits are in the way.

Conservative guess....

Remove rear seat (bottom) - 2 minutes
Rear seat uppers - haven't done it myself
Remove front seats - 30 min (I have too much practice)
Door sills & kick plates - 10-20 min
Center console - between seats - 20 min
Dash & shifter area - several hrs
+ Reassemble time

Don't forget, most of this is necessary for 2 cars unless the one in Boulder is an acceptable color.

Not sure how much more needs to come out. After going this far (I didn't dig deep into dash) to dry a carpet I gave up trying to remove it. There was still a lot of things in the way. The lower dash stuff, as well as upper?, may need to come out to give enough room to pull the carpet back and over the shifter area.

I think it pretty much has to come out of the back of the car. You may be able to wrestle it out a door but there is a lot of foam attached & it would fight you all the way.

For prices on carpet, I would recommend contacting All Audi VW, www.allaudivw.com Their site is just about useless but they are knowledgeable & have decent prices.

Also, try Roman 303-667-5039 in Littleton. He has no website that I know of but is also a good parts source. He advertises on Denver Craigslist, search for his # under auto parts for current posts.

The carpet I have is already removed, but I did swap my front/rear seats out which is about 3 hours of work solo, so if you are going to swap the entire carpet out plan for a half day or more. Maybe less with a buddy to help. If you decide to just patch in the passenger section it will still require some center console removal, as described by the other poster.

If you had been thinking of upgrading your aluminum sport trim to CF or piano black, would be a good time to do it.

i know it's a hassle... but i'm stripping the entire interior out anyway for some sound deadening treatment... this would just be an additional reason to go the extra mile & deaden behind the dash too, seeing as it would have to be removed for the carpet install :D

if you don't care about the weight.
