for your cars sake, DO NOT put on an aftermarket waterpump they fail like a mofo, stick with OEM.. Just a little PSA.
I just found out that waterpump/thermostat are bad and the water pump is more or less the culprit behind it, and it can/has been known to make the timing belt fail....
am I ever going to get to drive my car? :-/

Dain and I did it, and used the OEM parts from Pure Motorsport. All OEM, including the water pump. Early this year IIRC.
Who/how did you find out they were "bad", and if so, what symptoms are they seeing.

I can't remember what Trevor said the name was..

and they pulled it, the water pump is not bad yet but it is NOT OEM., but the thermostat is toast.

it's getting frustrating, I love this car, and will drive it until the wheels fall off..
But I've srsly driven this car for about 5 days, now mind you those were 5 of the best days this year!

it was severely neglected for a month, there were things that out of absolute necessity which weren't done.... Hell, it rolled into the dealership on a spare/wheel that wasn't mine (ot; Zach, I'll probably be back next next weekend, I'll let you know)
A shorlist of what I've done to this point: control arms, clutch, brakes (there was absolutley *no* pad left, and I know they were yours that you gave to Dain right before the car was sold the first time), downpipe is cracked, new tires, engine coolant sensor (faulty install), coolant return line, a wideband O2 to get this thing running good (waaaay too rich at this point) and run some logs, linkage was all screwed up blah, blah, blah.... After this, I knew that it had not been taken care for a that time, hell, I cleaned out vomit from beneath the seat if that says anything..
I'll put it like this, if I wouldn't have gotten ahold of this car, it would have gone to a salvage yard in a very short time, probably under a year. I'll say it again, this is the greatest car I have ever had the pleasure of driving, it's a perfect fit for me...
You and Dain are people I trust to the hilt, however while this car was in "limbo" for a month, it went through absolute utter hell, and I am bringing her back to where she should be... I'd like to get together with you guys one weekend, and go over the car and check it out when I get it back....
Cheers,
Nick

Nick, I have the reciept for you from PureMS for the Ultimate Timing Belt Kit, I'm pretty sure they only use OEM parts. I can only wonder if the pump used was made for Audi by another company- sortof like how there are RS4 motor mounts made by Avon and some other company... maybe that would explain why 303 is saying it's non-oem? If they said that it hadn't failed "yet" was it about to? Was it leaking- if so was it from the gasket or pump itself? What made them pull the pump?
Mind you I'm not downplaying this whole process has been a real m'er f'er for you, but Nigel and I have used the same process (same torque specs from the Bentley) for your car and a few others that have worked flawlessly. I'm just confused.
I'm sorry you're having to deal with this crap, I wish you weren't...

I'm wondering what happened in the month that it was not in my possession, possibly someone put another one on, I'm curious. If you would have seen the condition of the paint, ie, no wax, you would have cringed, I spent 6hrs polishing/waxing/polishing and it's better, but he never waxed it or anything.
Don't worry about it man, I love this car, and I know everything will be re-affirmed the minute I get back behind the wheel of it!! :-)
I'm happy that I have possession of it, if not it could be another story!!

it is in fact a WorlPac, totally smooth finish without any type of Audi embossing and also has the plastic roller instead of the gold metal Audi OEM roller.. I'll take some pics later tonight/tomorrow of it..
Not a huge deal at all, they are "OEM replacement units" as purems.com says, not a true OEM Audi part, once again, I could care less, I just know now that I'm not going to have to worry about the WP failing anytime soon....
I'll have the car back later today, WOOHOO!!!!!
Cheers,
Nick

For the record, I have yet to see a gold impeller on any of the cars I've done TB jobs on.
