Thinking of getting the CD changer from Clair. Will I need to upgrade the speakers or amplifiers? Much has been written about the installation of the Panasonic unit but it's hard to find info in the archives about the quality of the sound in the Bose-less system. Any opinions would be helpful (although audiophiles are NEVER satisfied with the sound quality). TIA.

I have the stock Concert system with the Panasonic changer, (installed at time of purchase), and I can honestly say that the sound is very good. In my previous car, (an Acura Integra) I had an Alpine system, with Boston Acoustics seperates, running off of two Alpine top of the line amps. While nothing stock can ever be as good as a quality aftermarket system, I find the Concert radio combined with the changer is more than adequate for my needs now.

Chris
98.5 1.8T Casablanca White
Added the CD from Clair to stock Concert a few weeks ago. The CD definitely sounds a nice step up from the other sources - clearer, no hiss, great treble, etc. Makes me want to a) add a sub then b) change the front speakers, though .... never ends ... do the CD !!

I have the Bose Premium system with Bose CD changer. While the changer is not as good as the Alpine unit that I had it is quite good. The sound are clear, crisp. You can hear the instruments clearly without distortion. I especially love the GALA mode on the freeways with the sunroof opens and the stereo crank up.

I think the Concert w/ CD player is a perfectly adequate stock stereo. Nothing too flashy, but nice for a stock system. It won't make your car a boom car, if that's what you want. Upgrades look to be a PITA.
At my stage of life, I prefer to do modifications to my home stereo where things are quiet enough to really appreciate the difference. The home system is an Adcom/Celestion/Velodyne setup that sounds great and images very nicely. But I just don't want to go to the expense of a major car upgrade when I spend no more than a few minutes in the car each day. If the situation were reversed, I might think otherwise. But for now, I'll go back to dreaming about the Martin-Logan / Sunfire combo that I have been lusting after. :)
Best regards,
Steve
