Events organized in 2003 in Nevada. Didn't see any 2004 dates listed. Anyone heard of something like this in CO? Wonder what it would take to organize...

"Open Road Racing is a high-speed automotive rally event held on closed highways
from 83 to 100 miles in length. Cars compete in solo runs against the clock in speed
classes ranging from 95 MPH to 170 MPH, with the objective being to average your
target speed EXACTLY. There is also an Unlimited class for full-out racing cars, who
try to be the fastest down the course. These ultra-fast cars have reached speeds of
nearly 230 MPH on the straightaways! You can race by yourself, or share the fun with
a co-driver or navigator to help keep the time and watch the course notes."<ul><li><a href="http://www.openroadracing.com/html/faq.html">http://www.openroadracing.com/html/faq.html</a</li></ul>

That's a fun drive when there aren't campers and slo-mo 4wheelers trying up the curvies! The last time I took some out-of-towners over TRR, I saw what looked like a Lexus club drive and a van that lost it on one of those curvies.

A road rally like this would be a cool event for the major Colorado car clubs to throw together. No Bonneville Flats in CO, but there must be some place this could work if well organized. So long as the event organizer isn't liable and need insurance -- not likely?
