View Full Version : Chip Reviews from the locals? B6 1.8T; Looking at Revo/GIAC/ Neuspeed (yes I've searched)...

Going to pickup my 03 B6 1.TQM (5,000 miles) on Friday and can already feeling that mod bug biting. A chip will be one of my first mods but...

I've spent a couple hours searching and can't seem to find a thorough conclusion- can anyone offer their experience as far as power gains and driveability?

Revo stands out because of the serial programming, plus from what I read, they have a very smooth power transition. I'm leaning towards this option but haven't heard enough first hand experience. Has anyone purchased the Revo? Local dealer?

GIAC seems to have provided the largest power gains initially but with some clutch and engine mount problems on the B6 platform. They've detuned their program for stock components but are the bugs worked out? Wondering if anyone has purchased recently or can offer experience.

Neuspeed is attractive because it is the lowest priced chip (I believe). However, I've read that the chip causes power to spike initially then flattens out over the RPMs. Not sure how bad this is.

APR seems to have had issues with stage 1/1+. The stage 1 chip doesn't seem worth it- and they just try to get you to bite on the bigger upgrade. I haven't heard much about MTM.

I'm looking to have a nice boost in power, with a smooth transition that won't hinder daily driveability. The APR chip on the B5 accomplishes this goal but the B6 is my question.

Any thoughts/experience are appreciated.

Reading through your post, I think you got every thing you need.

If I were you, I'll try the REVO for free (call Zev). Also, I'll try the APR serial programming. They just released it like a month ago (www.autosportwerks.com) in Broomfield is an APR dealer. The NeuSpeed chip is the cheapest but unfortunately there isn't a place to do it in CO. I have driven my friend's B5. He had a GAIC chip, it was great but I don't know much about it for the B6.

My advise is try the REVO and the APR, see which one you like more, price, and you won't go wrong with either one.

are customer cars here running both programs. Revo is tuneable which makes it very appealing. Please give me a call !
