I've got a buyer for my supra, and once it's gone I'm planning on an A4. The initial desire was for an S4, but the $$ involved just ain't gonna happen.
I've got my eye on a '98 1.8tq 5speed, 68k miles for just shy of $13k. Gotta roadtrip to get it, but that'll be sorta fun.
Testdrove an A4 at a Boulder dealer last week - very nice car, but severely lacking in the 'freeway merging lane' category. Maybe with some underhood TLC it will wake up. Loved the handling, loved the ride, loved the interior.
Just wanted to say hello from Castle Rock, CO.
Cheers.

chipped up quite nicely I think that the VW Passat kids were getting about 250hp (or more?)without anything other than a garret chip.
Hello back vrom Arvada, CO...enjoy!
I'm a believer. I had an A4 2.8 when I lived in Boulder, but at the elevations out here, I now think the turbos are the way to go. And, as stated, if you want more juice, there are lots of options with tuning chips (they boost the pressure and tweak other tuning parameters) in the few hundred dollar range. Because this will be used, you won't have to worry about voiding the factory warranty, either. HPH

with mods you can dial it to about what ever you want. A chip will put you around 200hp with 260 ft/lbs, exhaust bumps that to 210, K04 turbo kit to 250, and an APR Stage 3 or T-28 to around 300. If you had a Supra I'm going to assume you know about turbo engine mods :)
Welcome aboard from Boulder

Hey Ryan. :) 720-750 crank hp out of the supra was "easy". Out of this block? I don't THINK so.
My first A4 choice appears to have been sold out from under me. Found an alternative choice in Texas, and when the buyer for the supra shows up, I'm off on a plane to get the A4.
Cheers.

I was actually wondering how much of a job it would be to stuff a supra motor into the A4 chassis. AWD and 600-700 hp would be, well, fun. :)

The first car I had my eye on got sold, so I've sent a down payment/deposit to the owner of a Santorin blue '98 5spd 1.8tq. Follow the link below for some pix.
I anticipate the buyer for my Supra to fly in next weekend and leave me with a nice cashiers check. Then the following weds I'll be flying to Houston to get the A4.
Going from a car that makes 740 hp at the crank (at 5800 ft ASL) to a car that makes 150 hp at the crank (at sea level) is going to be, well, slow. :)
Just wanted to share my excitement. I'm pumped to be moving into some other type of transportation, esp a car that I can haul people (wife & kids) around in.

The car I hope to have in the garage soon
