View Full Version : Anyone in Orange County surf? If so where and what kind of board?... fenixxx 09-19-2003, 04:02 PM I usually go to Prospect in Newport sometimes HB by the pier. Looking for other places EnciniTTas 09-22-2003, 08:55 PM 5' 11" clasic single fin carver. 2R8Sand1RS4 09-22-2003, 10:10 PM supertran74 09-23-2003, 02:03 AM fenixxx 09-23-2003, 09:00 PM I have a 7'2" funboard, not too wide and not too thick. I can catch small waves and still be able to duck-dive (a little) under the larger ones. I still suck though, only been doing it for 3 months. nuhka 09-23-2003, 09:45 PM pretty much take pch south from o.c area surfs up supertran74 09-24-2003, 01:20 AM ive only been 2 times so gimme some pointers fenixxx 09-24-2003, 07:46 PM Sure it would be a lot easier on a 9' board. You could probably learn to stand up in no time BUT you might soon grow tired of it. My 2 friends who have never surfed before bought a 7'4" funboard and a 7'2" longboard and they are able to stand somewhat after only 3 months. Also. Longboards are good because you can catch waves in them that you would otherwise not be able to catch on s shortboard. But its all a trade-off. Personally I am doing fine on my 7'2" funboard and probably in 6 months or so I will move to a 6 and a half foot shortboard. |
