ok...i am finishing up my last year of university up here in toronto and have always thought about moving somewhere south for a couple of years while i am young and unattached. i've been thinking a lot about moving down to SD - though i've never been i've heard such great things about the city etc....

i'm just worried b/c i want to make sure i'm not sending myself into financial crisis here -- though this is supposed to be one of those "life experience" moves -- i still have to be smart about it!

i guess my questions now are about the city -- generally friendly, easy going? uptight and vain? is the economy (i know the whole continent isn't doing well...) and job market a disaster? (i am trying to get a job with an auto company -- nissan is around there right?)

any input would be appreciated! :) feel free to email me...thanks guys!

originally from midwest.

People are friendly and laidback. There are a lot of things to do, especially if you're outdoorsy type.

If you're not sure about making the big move, you can still visit for few days. check www.sandiego.org

http://www.sandiego.org</a

The job market depends on what you do. There are jobs in SD and San Diego hasn't been hit as hard as the rest of the state. Housing is the big issue. Housing cost are going up 20% a year. Good if you own, but bad if you don't. I'm not sure about renting. The night-life rocks in San Diego. I say 10X better than fake and trendy LA.

well i'm just finishing up my 4 year degree (business & economics) and want to work for an auto company (i've found some internships with toyota and ford on their websites that i'll be applying to). since i am young (read: poor) and won't be staying out there forever, i'll probably be renting (booooo). i'll just have to do some research....thanks :)
