View Full Version : Anyone here going to the NASA event at Infineon this weekend? I'll be there in HPDE. Swank4 06-26-2008, 10:58 AM Calif_Kid 06-26-2008, 01:36 PM I am planning on being there. Which group will you be in, and what color is your car? I was running HDPE 1 & 2, but just got bumped to HPDE-3. My car is a 2001 Nogaro AWE stage3 S4, but may be a little slow, as it looks like I've got a slight exhaust leak - either the AWE headers, or loose studs or whatever. I just called AWE, and they said that they would guarantee the headers, but only to the original purchaser... - Jim (Calif_Kid) Swank4 06-26-2008, 02:25 PM I signed up for HPDE-2 just to get some more seat time in the avant. I should probably try out HPDE3 <shrugs>. The car is Stage 2+ (chip, turboback exhaust) so it's decent but not lightning fast. Looking forward to putting my Alcon 355 6pots to work and NT-01 rubber. My car is santorin blue and I'm #11. Calif_Kid 06-26-2008, 02:35 PM I'm not sure how many times you've driven Infineon, but if you haven't driven there much, then really really try to go out with an Instructor (with the instructor driving) in HDPE-4 if possible, or if not that, then in HDPE-3. I learned a lot from the instructors when I was driving, but also got a feel for the speed/arc thru turn1 etc. in their car during HDPE-4 session. joe@vwvortex 06-27-2008, 12:54 PM it's just a VERY long day. Calif_Kid 06-27-2008, 02:05 PM Are the other driving clubs much better? I might go to Reno-Fernley either 8/30-8/31 with Hooked on Driving, or 9/13-9/14 with Norcal racing club, but not sure which one to go to. Most of my track days have been with Nasa HPDE, and two days with ACNA. - Jim (Calif_Kid) V8 06-27-2008, 06:59 PM TrackMasters was on Friday while NASA was the following Saturday and Sunday. The drivers at the TM event definitely got more track time, and with less cars on track (25 max per group). Based on the schedules between the two clubs the Advanced group at TM had 140 minutes of possible track time while HPDE-4 at NASA, on Saturday, had 80 minutes. Normally TM drivers would get even more track time, but they added an "open wheel" group and gave us 90 minutes. The downside to the smaller clubs is that they typically run on weekdays and often have higher rates. rbt 06-28-2008, 08:40 AM I haven't checked the schedule to confirm what they have in store this year, though. joe@vwvortex 06-30-2008, 11:08 AM I can get to one. That would be nice! |
