the downtown ice rink by the fairmont looks decent, there's also a huge one off 10th street (i think).The vallco one closed...that's all that i can think of.

not sure about the crowds. my experience is limited to my son's bday party a couple of years ago.

i just remembered, there may also be a rink up in san mateo too - fashion island i think.

Also there is a Starbucks and various restaurants in the same shopping mall. Much more convenient.

but what I care most about is the crowd in all honesty....so wherever you may find a nicer, "holiday-oriented" crowd.

winterlodge is outdoor and is alot of fun... very casual. Mom's pushing baby strollers on the ice with James Taylor on the sound system...

I was suprisingly better than I thought I'd be and my gf picked it up quick too!

Kind of a rip off though...14/person (vs like 7-10 everywhere else.)

Definitely go mid-week if you do San Jose. It's not all that big and can get crowded.
