Don't really know why I'm posting this, other than I'm frustrated and just wanted to share. Me and the S8 seem to have a magnetic attraction to any and all CHP officers within 50 miles of wherever I am. It especially seems bad around the Woodland and Davis area. I heard something about them increasing patrols, but I seem to be getting extra special attention! :)
December, clear evening around 8pm, I'm driving all the way from San Francisco and I'm just on the north side of Woodland. I'm driving about 65 or so, which is a major slowdown after how fast everyone drives on I-80. Anyway, a CHP going the OPPOSITE direction pulls a U turn and lights me up, as I feel like I'm practically at a coasting speed. Ug. I pull over like a good boy and do everything I can to make the officer comfortable. I put the car in park, roll the windows down, turn off the engine, and turn on the cabin lights, keeping my hands in view on the wheel. The officer comes up, doesn't really ask anything, and just hands me a ticket for 65. He said it was because there was intermittent fog and I shouldn't speed like that. I didn't see any fog before, during, or on the remainder of my trip. I fought the ticket by written declaration, and lost.
Today, I'm up in Woodland for an appointment at 10am. Around 11 I leave and start heading back to work in San Francisco. I'm in a good mood and just relaxed, so I'm putting along like a grandpa a few miles an hour below the speed limit. I see a black and white about a half mile behind me so I keep my speed steady and just drive safely with both hands on the wheel. The CHP comes up really fast and then just sits in my blind spot like he's pacing me. OK, "what the heck?" I ask myself. Then he tucks in right behind me and sits there for a few minutes. I thought he was just messing with me, hoping I would speed and he could give me a ticket. Just about as I was done wondering and was going to speed back up to the limit and pull away, he lights me up!! Dang. So, I pull over, and he chats with me for 10 minutes about how I really shouldn't be tailgating trucks like that, and he's sure I was only 60-80 feet back from the semi but at 60mph I have to be back 150 or more.
No ticket today anyway, thankfully. Sometimes CHP just really drives me up the wall.
