Until it happens to you, and you have the dubious honor of replacing your tank. Not to mention the fun the motorcyclists will have trying to drive in the gasoline you're dribbling after you fill your tank.

Those people have a lot of balls drilling into a gas tank (its only a matter of time until they create a spark during drilling). Obviously not the smartest group of criminals.

Wouldn't it be faster/safer to siphon? I understand a lot of cars don't give you free access to the gas cap. But crawling underneath a car, drilling into the tank and then catching what spills out must be a serious pain in the ass. What are they using to catch the gas that spills out, dirty plastic milk jugs?

Fortunately us older Audi owners are not at to bad of a risk for this kind of theft. URQ/4K/CGT have the gas tank in the trunk.

With the price of gas right now, I always lock my gas cap too just in case anyone gets the bright idea to try and siphon my car.
