Does anyone in the Bay area have those inPro chrome side mirror covers available on eBay and widely discussed on Audiworld?

My OEM stainless mirror covers on the S6 have been pretty badly attacked by something (acidic touchless car wash solvents?) under the previous owner's care, and they have acquired a mottled look. At $600 per side for OEM replacements, I'm thinking of the inPro approach, but would like to see them in the flesh first.

Thanks!

Not as far as I can tell. No detailer has any good ideas; the dealer (Rector) suggested aluminum polish, which had no effect; the local Meguiars rep (who has a black S6 so presumably knows what he's talking about) says that once they're too far gone they're hard/impossible to fix. I've searched the archives, and nobody has any real fix for this (common) problem.

The problem seems to be that the aluminum surface on the mirror caps is anodized, which prevents it from being polished with any normal materials. I think on mine the anodizing has failed in places allowing the aluminum underneath to tarnish.

If anybody knows a local shop that can acid-dip my OEM mirrors and re-anodize them, I'd give it a shot.

Thanks,
