they're charging me almost twice the cost of a AUX adapter, NOT including labor.
Any personal recommendations/experience with iPod install?
Thanks in advance!

The hardest part is if you want to mount a cradle, depending on the adapter module.

Depending on your car model and year, it will either be:

- snap the adapter into the CD changer plug in the trunk and run a cable to the passenger compartment, or

- pull the radio out, plug the adapter into the back connections and ground a wire.

If it's the 2nd method, stuffing the wires back in might take some patience.

Buy your adapter online or from Best Buy. All you need is a set of radio keys and your radio security code. 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. There are several writeups here on AW.

Don't know if i have a 13 pin DIN or an 8 pin DIN ... all i have is a cable sticking out of my trunk where my CD changer once was, and the cable is a 8 pin round female connector. So i'm guessing i have the 8 pin, but would like a professional or someone with experience to tell me.
BTW, its a 98 Audi A4 2.8L Quattro.
Thanks

The adaptor's 8-pin connector is blue and square, right? That's not DIN.

See my instructions above.

You're right. But I called P.I.E., and the part they insisted will work is VWR-AUX, and to get a extension cable for it.
That's why i need to bring the car to someone with experience to help me. I've been wanting to check the cable on the left back trunk lining, but there's an amplifier/casing on the roof of the left trunk that blocking the trunk lining from coming off.

From looking at P.I.E.'s site, though, they say it's compatible with all Audi radios from 1998-on but they don't specify the type. If you have a Concert it should work. No go if you have a Delta.

Or else get the Audi version which is trunk mounted. Your CD changer connection in the trunk should be 13-pin, though.

Again, the VW is a behind-the-radio mount, so the biggest challenge will be stuffing everything back into the dash. From there, you'll need a 2-RCA to 1/4" mini-plug extension from the P.I.E. to your iPod.

They helped install my remote start alarm on the Audi a year ago and also do ipod installs.
