going north from 19th avenue...i meant to say.

any of you guys write the city on huge potholes like that one?

so yeah - dont go on the left lane in park presidio, there's a HUGE pot hole after the bend.

superpothole took my wheel cover and curbed the inside of my rim (actually lawong's ring - sorry leonard!) and i was on 235,45,17 sized tires. yikes!

beware!

so has anyone written the city and get a reponse about incidents like this? any resolution.

thanks!

I almost smashed a wheel on one of the three holes in the left lane Southbound before they finally threw some asphalt in them.

misery loves company! i'm so sorry about your 19" rim! what was your resolution - where did you end up going?

luckily the rim looks fine on the outside, but bent on the inside. i didn't see it myself, but my bf took a flashlight and made me turn the wheel and stuff - he's all "oh yeah, it's bent!"

ay caramba!

hopefully i can find some 2001 celebration rims! uurgh! or just fork over the $125 to get them fixed. i'm hoping one of the wheel places will quote less cuz the dent is on the inside - but i doubt that! *sigh*

pricey. had a spare for the flik but i found out right when i was about to put it on that they sent me the wrong size hub--doesn't fit the audi. need to speak with them when they come back from vacation.

if i get my spare in, i'll use the bent one as a spare. when it rains, it pours. the other problem with the spare is that it's unidirectional and i belive the tire is going to be facing the wrong way so that might put me in a bind.

still debating on picking up another flik since i already have 5. i should decide soon because inventory is low. decisions, decisions...

cover it up. my buddy's bmw went through a few potholes and he reported it to his insurance. they did the legwork and got him a new set of wheels from 17s to 19s.

not sure if $225 wheels (my fliks), are worth the insurance hike...

Not easy when you need to turn right after what seems like 20 feet after the last pothole. At least they filled it a bit. Let's see if it lasts. Anyone for a betting pool on how long the fill lasts? I'll take 49 days.

BTW, anyone know what's going one with MLK Drive? Is it flooded, or is something else going on? With the rain we're supposed to get, I imagine it'll be closed for a while.

i sent an email in reporting the pothole..but not sure if i should leave a vm for tracy as well. i mean, the two the incidents are completely legit, but i dont want them to think they are "fishy."

may be i'm just looking for a reassurance that i'm doing the right thing! :)

we have to go into a district office to file a claim....they said they are open 24 hours. perhaps i'll try to go today.

Since that is Highway 1, I wonder if CalTrans is the responsible authority.

Same fvcking ****! Had my family in the car coming back from Monterey and ended up flattening and bending two rims. I flat-bedded the car 29 miles back home. Since we couldn't find a flatbed that could seat the 5 of us, I sent my wife and kids back home in a yellow cab. Cab = $120 Tow = $168. I did manage to get a couple of pics with a disposable. That was fun! (run, snap, run, snap, run, snap and run) The main thing is nobody was hurt! I followed up yesterday with the city attorney's office (Mike Hazi 554-5845) and spoke with Frank Casey (554-5846). He said that there were a number of claims coming in. He took all my info and is sending me a claim form. I got a feeling they will be cooperating. If not, I will take legal action. The rims will be back in my hands today. Cain's Tires in San Rafael sent them out yesterday and as past experience goes, they've always come through. Price $80/rim to straighten and $20/rim to mount and balance. I'll keep you all posted. Don't look if you don't want to feel my pain! The Culprit! Now to a real camera and the real pain.... and another....

I knew instantly that a rim or two were bent. I managed to get it off Park in one block. Just in time to see the last breath of air being exhaled from the tires!

I was told by an officer who took my call, that it wouldn't be necessary to file a police report if the damage was only related to a bent rim or flat tire. I will involve my insurance company if it looks like I'll have to replace the rims. I was patched through to public works for the follow up! I probably will contact my insurance carrier today to get a little more feedback on this matter.

12-30-2005, 02:46 PM
mmmmmm i don't think i'll get my insurance involved...it's only one rim and hopefully i can find 2001 celebrations!

otherwise, hopefully your $80 works well!

I asked her for her email address because she was asking for;

flname
mailing address
home/work phone
date occured/time
yr/make/mod car
specific damage
which street/x-street
direction of travel

i told her i can explain more about the issue on email and left her my full name, number, and email address. I also told her that I'm not the only one who got hit with this damn pothole. Glad someone took a picture of it. was kinda hard to get out and try to take a picture in the middle of traffic. Anyway, I think she's probably gone for the day so I'll be dealing with her on Monday or the primary person I was orignally referred to: michael .

Hope they at least closed that sucker up a bit cuz i'd hate to see someone NOT see it when it's filled with water and cause an accident.

got more contact info for wheel service? My quote are Rite-way was 125+25 for straightening, mount/balance.

i'm planning to fix my curb rash as well on the other 2 wheels and then probably do a powder coat on all 4. they quoted me 90 for that and still 25 for mount/balance.

San Rafael is probably the same distance to Walnut Creek from where I am, but if the price is cheaper and they can get it done, then i'd rather go to your place. tia

he said something about not much traffic and his passenger steering and stuff while he did that, but still seems quite the candidate for a Darwin award.
